(trigger warnings: suicide and depression)
I’m Elena and I want to share the story of my fourth tattoo.
I got it the day that I found out one of my best friends had ended her own life. I met her when I started college. Although I knew she had been on medication for depression, her death came as a shock to everyone. I got the words “lovely bloodflow,” which is the name of a song by Baths that reminds me of a really good night I spent with her. Her birth and death dates are underneath.
I just want people to know that suicide is preventable. If anyone needs someone to talk to I’m always open, I also have experience with depression. Also if you are in the US please call 1-800-273-8255 the national suicide help line, or 866-488-7386, the Trevor Project which is specifically for preventing suicide for LGBT youth.
It was one of the hardest days of my life and it’s only been a month, I still can’t believe she’s gone. I got it done by Tony at Deep Roots in Seattle, Washington who was amazing, funny and supportive throughout the process. (The Dali elephant featured on my side is by Nina at Laughing Buddha Tattoo, also in Seattle.)My tumblr is uhlenah.tumblr.com
I don’t know if I really posted this story on my own blog before so here it is . miss you so much Rachel . I’ll be back for your memorial <3
